Listen to YOU, not those around you

Have you ever quit, or given up on something that you really liked because of something someone else has said to you, or about you? I know I have. Why is it that we put so much weight into what others think of us?
You heard the words 'self-esteem' SO many times while you were growing up, am I right? I always heard grown-ups talking about him or her, and if they had a good self-esteem. As an adult now myself, I catch myself thinking/worrying about the youth I work with and my own children, and what they think of themselves? Do they have a good opinion of themselves? How can I help them realize how incredible they are?
Well then it got me thinking about myself and my fellow adults.. A lot of us still put as much stock into what other peoples opinions of us are now, as we did when we were young. No more. You need to take control of your thoughts and feelings about yourself, and never give it away to someone else again.

5 STRATEGIES FOR FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOURSELF AND TRUSTING WHAT YOU DO

  • say goodbye to that negative voice inside, and say hello to the new you
    • this means only positive self talk from now on, it's totally ok, and I encourage you to give yourself pep talks everyday.. multiple times a day! Tell yourself how cute and funny you are, and express love and appreciation to yourself. {sounds corny, but trust me, it works!}
  • stop looking in on what everyone else in your industry is doing.. this includes stay at home moms
    • When you compare yourself to others, you are opening those doors for self-deflating.. meaning you will start to feel negatively towards yourself for not being at the level of so & so. You will question what you are doing wrong, why aren't your sales as high, why can't I decorate as good as her, why don't I have as many followers as them.. blah blah blah. I call this static, because when your T.V. or radio has static, you change the station/channel... or better yet you TURN IT OFF! You don't need the static, it really inhibits your growth and causes your goals to get fuzzy. If someone else is at a level you wish to be, celebrate it, because that means it's possible for you too, and then move on. "A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just BLOOMS."
  • let go of your {negative} past
    • I know this sounds way easier said than done, but in the words of Rob Schneider, 'you can do it!' Every time something negative from your past creeps into your mind, whether it be a past mistake you are having a hard time letting go of, or negative criticism from someone you care about.. quickly replace that thought with something positive that you are doing right now. Did you pay for someone else's meal today, did you offer a sweet smile to a stranger, did you send a text to a friend you haven't talked to in a while? If something negative from your past tries to sneak into your thoughts, stop it quick! YOU are the one in control.
  • congratulate your failures
    • We all fail, sometimes multiple times a day. Don't beat yourself up over it, congratulate yourself for finding a way that wasn't working and try again. i.e: If you are working on a project that just isn't coming together like you had hoped, walk away, regroup, and come back with a fresh approach. Life isn't perfect, and sometimes we fail big time, but it's totally OK because we usually learn something and we know what not to do for next time.
  • trust your gut
    • Did you know that your gut can tell you things before your brain can?! Learn to tap into that inner voice and listen to it! The more you practice this, the easier it becomes. Your life will no longer be ruled by indecision, because trusting your gut helps you make decisions quickly so you can move on to more important things, like falling in love with who you are and the values you stand for.
I employ you to try these practices in your daily life, to create good, lasting habits. You will be happier and more successful in all that you. I'm always cheering you on, now go have a great day!!

P.S. have you connected with me on instagram yet? What are you waiting for, I love meeting new friends!
