Dollar Store Christmas Bell

This year I wanted some new ornaments, but I didn't want to spend much... luckily this year the Dollar Store had a pretty amazing selection!
BUT of course I couldn't leave well enough alone!
 Gather some old book pages, feathers,  scraps of ribbon and lace, and some holly pics {also from the Dollar Store}

 Tie it all together and  glue it on and you have a fabulous handmade {semi-handmade} ornament!

Phone Interview with HGTV's Chip Wade

Are you getting your house ready for the holidays?? I know we are! SO EXCITING!!!!
Are you hosting a party, or having family come to stay with you?

Well I had a cool opportunity to talk with HGTV star Chip Wade about some small things you can do to your house to get ready for the holiday season!

I asked about weather stripping... because we want to keep the heat IN right?
I asked about expanding square footage by finishing off our attic as a loft.
And he told me about a new affordable toilet from Delta that has some pretty cool features... BECAUSE.. Did you know that toilet troubles are the number 1 catastrophe when hosting extra guests?!?

Here is the video if you want to watch and hear his answers to my questions.

EASY Thankful Penant

I have been all about the super EASY lately!
I wanted to create some Thanksgiving decor, but quickly, with items I already had on hand..

All I did was print out the letters onto bookpages,
then I glitterized the letters,
backed them with burlap, then strung 'em up!
{the font is called Type Keys}
Get your burlap at Burlapfabric.com their prices are AMAZING!!!
We hope you all have a very wonderful Thanksgiving, and that you are reminded of what you are thankful for. Our hearts are currently overflowing.. more to come on that later next week.

Sweet Potato Tin Foil Dinners

I have to start by saying that I NEVER thought this meal would make it in our house.. my husband claims to hate yams and sweet potatoes, but he LOVED this meal... even our picky daughter likes it.. so give it a try!
It is SO easy and cheap to make!
This Recipe is gluten free and can be made vegetarian or vegan

Slice up Potatoes, Yams, and Butter;  mix them together in a tin foil pan or metal pie pan
Salt and pepper to your liking and put hamburger patty on top {if you want meat}
Cover with tin foil
Cook in BBQ on LOW for 30 to 35 min, stirring once at 15 minute mark

Bistro Kitchen Reveal

YAY! I can finally cook without washing dishes in the bathtub!!

I decided to ignore 'design rules'.. well I usually do! But anyway, this kitchen is ALL ME!
And I am in LOVE with it.
These vintage ceiling tiles that I used for my backsplash came out of an old building being demolished in Paris,
so they are obviously one of my favorite features in my new kitchen! ;)
Don't get me wrong, we remodeled this kitchen on a very tight budget... lots of up-cycling and recycling! AND we did it all ourselves! {with the occasional help from a neighbor or family member of course!}

Ok, going thru these photos, I am flabbergasted that this was really the kitchen in the house we bought!

I know you can't see everything in these photos, but most cabinets are caked in grease, dirt, blood,, who knows!

I had so much fun pouring my heart and soul into the design and remodel of this kitchen!

These shelves are definitely my favorite part of my kitchen, they brighten my day when I look at them!
I know this After isn't AFTER all the way, but I think it shows it off better this way, without all the food and island in the way. :) Can you pick out all the things that are different?!

Yup, I had this crazy idea how to build our own countertops, and it worked marvelously!

I will post more info on the countertops later.
 We built our own drawer fronts.. they are chalkboard!

I built this bistro table by sawing a table in half, and then painting it. Since there is no room for a kitchen table, I decided this would work great, and it does!
{Don't mind the skelly and pumkins, it's fall!}

One more look at the before and afters!

Hearty Healthy Breakfast Smoothie

I usally pour 2 tablespoons or more of honey in my smoothies, but I was able to get the sweetness I wanted by using just 1 packet of Nectresse sweetener!

HEARTY-HEALTHY Breakfast Smoothie

-1/2 Cup Quick Oats {pureed in blender}
-1 Packet Nectresse Sweetener
-2 1/2-ish Cups Vanilla Almond Milk {add more depending on thickness you want}
-1 Cup Frozen Spinach
-3/4 Cup Frozen Blueberries
-3/4 Cup Frozen Strawberries
{Chia or Flax seeds are optional}
It makes 4 servings... You can freeze leftovers to save you time on those busier mornings!
P.S. My husband HATES spinach and he couldn't even taste it! So don't be afraid of adding it!

It was SO yummy and very filling! Plus I don't feel the least bit worried about the sugar content!

If you would like a Free sample of Nectresse go here: FREE sample of NECTRESSE™Sweetener

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Nectresse™ Sweetener for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Todays Recipe was inspired by NECTRESSE™Sweetener  {The makers of Splenda took the extract from Monk Fruit and made a 100% ALL NATURAL, NO CALORIE sweetener! There are no others available like this!}
I was lucky enough to have been sent a sample to review, I love a challange to create something yummy AND healthy!

I eat gluten free, and egg free so baking something using Nectresse was somewhat out of the question for me, SO I thought what better way to test it out than by making a super yummy, super healthy breakfast smoothie!

You can find Nectress at almost every grocery store, it comes in Packets or a canister!
Also Lisa Ling is the spokesperson for Nectresse, you should check out this video she made about how much she LOVES Nectresse!
